This is good. I read on the internet that Myanmar have taken delivery of a mixture of 10 Mig-29 B, 6 Mig-29 SEs and 4 trainers.
It would be nice if Myanmar can upgrade all the B models to SE as the new radars and computer software will allow Myanmar to equip modern AA-12/R77 medium range air to air missiles which will enable us to compete with Thai AIM-120 missiles.
I read on the internet that modern air warfare is all about Beyond Visual Range (BVR) now so if we have some of that capability, we will do better against our neighbours in the future.
I don't have a Myanmar font on my computer so I had to type in English. My apologies for that.
I think our Mig-29 SEs can match Thai F-16s (not Mig-29 Bs). I still think Thailand's Swedish made JAS-39 Gripen aircraft got the edge as it is very modern. That is where our air defence will have to come to play their role.
We do need to upgrade our Navy. Like Ko Mg said, we will have to take our time and do it step by step. That is the best way.
I would like us to build/buy modern frigates. Not buying second hand or out of date equipment from China or North Korea as that will not help our country at all. It would be nice to see something like the Russian Gepard class frigate to give us that advantage.
Myanmar is our country. I am proud to be a Myanmar and I want us to be powerful just to shut our neighbours up. If we are strong without relying on anybody, no one will mess with us.
ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို့တပ္မေတာ္ေရမွာ frigates ေတြ corvettes ေတြမ်ားမ်ားထုတ္နိင္ဖို့လိုပါတယ္။ ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို့ရဲ့ FAC ေတြဟာ Tonnage နဲလြန္း low freeboard ၿဖစ္လြန္းတာေႀကာင့္ in bad weather မွာ operation မလုပ္နိင္ပါဘူး။ တပ္မေတာ္ေရကသေဘၤာေတြမွာ air defence missile system မရွိပါဘူး air defenceအတြက္ AA guns ေတြဘဲတပ္ထားပါတယ္။ ဒါဟာ မဟာအမွားပါ။ ယခုေခတ္မွာ fighters ေတြကို AA guns နဲ့ၿပစ္ခ်ဖို့၈၀% မလြယ္ကူပါဘူး။ AA guns ေတြဟာ very short range effect ဘဲရွိပါတယ္။ကိုယ္ကဘာမွမလုပ္နိုင္ခင္မွာ fighters ေတြကကိုယ့္သေဘၤာကို air to sea missiles ေတြနဲ့ၿပစ္ၿပီးေလာက္ပါၿပီ။ ကဲအသံုးမက်တဲ့ဒီ AA guns ေတြနဲ့ဘယ္လိုလုပ္မလဲတပ္မေတာ္ေရရယ္။......
